Battle of the Books was held on Monday, May 3. Students in grades 4-7 who read at least one of this year’s Mark Twain Award nominee books enjoyed pizza and competed in a trivia contest. The four highest scoring teams advanced to the championship round. Each student received a gift bag and one of next year’s books. Prizes including laser tag, a pool float, an instant print camera, pool basketball game, and a hover board were raffled to students that participated in the championship round. This year’s winning team was The Wabi Sabi Crew (Peyton, Cade, Grady, and Selah, all of fifth grade). Collectively, the 42 participating students read 133 books for Battle of the Books alone. The students chose Blended by Sharon M. Draper to be their favorite book. We cannot thank our sponsors enough!
