Stick to it, work hard and you will never regret it!
Good Morning Panther Nation,
I worked on the school budget for next year all day yesterday, I always start working on it in January, but then really hit it hard in March and April. In twenty years, I have not been more confused about the direction of where we are headed. I am confident however; that MCR-2 has been vigilant over the years with the leadership of the board of education, to financially weather this economic storm induced by the COVID-19. I believe, that whenever we head back to normal, we will not forget what happened in 2020. This whole social distancing, self-quarantine, flattening the curve, and other “new terms” we have come to know more than we wanted, have given us pause re-thinking how we need to live and treat others.
Let’s say that one guy got a $1000 dollars for free and another guy got a $1000 bucks for working extremely hard. Which one is better off for the $1000? Working hard is a reward in itself that we will never forget or regret!
The picture attached to the beginning of this blog, is a lasting memory. My best friend growing up and years later the best man in our wedding sent that to me last night. I have no idea why he reached out, other than they are self-quarantining and he is bored going through ancient pictures! We worked hard preparing for rodeos, more specifically bull riding. The picture is of us (I’m on the left, I know… the late 70’s junior high hair was not great, but I did have a lot!) waiting to ride bulls in the Dekalb County Fair Rodeo in Maysville, Missouri is an example of hard work paying off. We seriously did work hard to try and compete. We stuck to it all winter/spring/summer long and did not regret it, I even have a couple of belt buckles to prove it. Don't make too much fun of the cowboy hats or my shirt (my Grandma Eaton actually made that shirt -- really -- with a sewing machine and all) they were the rage at the time......
We stuck to it and will never regret the effort and memories made thru out the years of the rodeo circuit. Just as we are sticking together thru this COVID-19 saga, we will be stronger for it. Hang in there, better times are coming.
Stay healthy and stick to it!
